After all, tonight is the Demon Parade, and it's best to be prepared for its arrival.
Typically, this annual event isn't too disorderly. Demons of all shapes and sizes march down the streets of Kōun, all following a procession that is deeply embedded into this country. Some of the demons are probably familiar to you-- your neighbors, the crew that work at the port, maybe even you're taking part in the festivities. And others are ones who are never typically seen, those who keep to themselves and only emerge to mingle with others during times like these. There are demons who you feel like you shouldn't look too long at them or else something horrible may happen.
While humans cannot participate in the parade itself, they are welcomed to watch... as long as they execute proper caution. Those not brave enough will remain sheltered inside, their homes protected by magically enforced scrolls and charms to keep any evil away. For those who want to take their chance anyway, just stay on guard. You never know when something may try to devour you. That said, any humans who do linger amongst the parade for too long may eventually find themselves feeling sick with dizziness and fatigue. Those who have protective spells on them will be spared of this for the most part, although they may still feel a more dulled version of the effect.
The march begins at Yamate, and will make its way towards the shores of Umite. As this parade brings visitors from outside the area, it might be a good time to see what you might learn from an outsider's perspective? Or maybe there's something else you can look into, considering... well.
Sometime past midnight, a scream can be heard. It won't take too long to figure out the cause though-- near Umite, it seems like the Demon Parade has come to a stop. The generally orderly procession has erupted into a mess of bodies running around as some of the demons begin to attack the others. While normally only humans are in danger during this event, it seems like there is no discrimination here as both human and demon alike are in danger of being mauled by those who are rampaging. Running somewhere that's protected is generally enough to get out of harm's way, but those who want to try to get everything back under control should be careful or else they will end up injured.
Hopefully you're not in the way.
