... I wasn't fast enough to get there in time. And they were far enough that I couldn't get a good view on who it was, especially with trees in the way. But one of them was carrying the other to the pond, and the person suddenly started struggling. They fought, and then they both just... fell into the pond together.
By the time I reached it to try to pull them out, it was... kind of weird. I couldn't see the bodies. I dunno if I was too late to interfere at that point, or what.

...there will only be so much we are able to do. It's unlikely we can stop it all completely, and it will be painful when we cannot-- but I have faith we will at least be able to keep it from becoming any worse.
