[they sure are, how the fk did we get here they just met

but ishi pauses after they walk in, taking a moment to look around the place.]

It's a bit... louder than I expected.

[it's the music, mostly. he proceeds inside, though, still taking the place in.]

Then the only choice is to get used to it, I suppose.

[because he's sure not going for the other option!

time to investigate the arcade games, because he also is not going directly for the bar. that can wait.]

I can't say that I do. These are unfamiliar to me-- though if you don't mind showing me how, I can certainly try.

[he's just over here because they're very noticeable, honestly, but he doesn't miss the way taka cheers up slightly at them. teach local grandpa how to game, y/n]

All right.

[give him a second because considering his size and all the fabric involved in that outfit, he probably has to kind of squeeze in and arrange his sleeves again while he gets settled. he is absolutely not dressed for this.]

--there we are. I take it this is what I'll need to use?

[gesturing at the wheel, there.]

I see...

[there's a little lever of some sort that he assumes must be it? okay. pedal located. the wheel obviously turns, and the lever is for speed, he's got it.

yeah this is probably not going to be fine, but still.]

This seems simple enough so far. Will I need anything else?

I'll try to do so, then.

[he prepares himself, watching the screen, and when the round begins, off go all the cars--

except for ishi's. he drives slowly away from the starting line... and promptly overcorrects the wheel to drive right into an obstacle.]

-ah. This is... a bit harder than I expected.

Won't it be harder to control-?

[apparently, yes, because he does increase his speed

and promptly crashes again]

I'm trying to-!

[it's HARD when he's getting YELLED AT BY A TEEN

but when the game plonks his car back on the road, he thankfully has figured out how to steer better.

he has not figured out how to race and is just kind of driving along, still overcorrecting the wheel but no longer just running right into things.]

What do I--

[it's about then that one of the cars from the first lap catches up, bumping into his and nearly pushing it off the track.]

-I see. So this is like a battle with vehicles, is it?

[now it all makes sense. following the track presents some extra difficulty, but at least now he gets that it's actually, you know, a race.

all hope of catching up is still pretty lost by now, but that gets him to focus more.]

[yeah he sure is last

and he's going to continue to be, since he was already so far behind. on the plus side, he improves a bit more along the way, learning how not to crash directly into things-- though he still kinda sucks at turning quickly and doesn't quite get around to really stepping on the gas.

even so, he looks satisfied at the end of that first race.]

That was... surprisingly interesting, actually.

[once he figured out how it worked, thanks taka]

Shall we try again?
