[The glasses are gone when Taka appears, and Sasuke can immediately parse what Taka had run into at the back. Same hat.] Tch... [What the hell are those doing in here? He hates it.
Surprisingly, he actually reaches out and takes Taka by the hand so he can steer them for the exit. Outside, he lets go once they're free of the hold of hell.] That's enough.
I don't... [Right. Isn't he supposed to... like... eat together or something for this sort of thing? Geez. He doesn't know how to maneuver this kid of battlefield.] Nevermind.
[Sasuke stands by Taka at the doors to wait for the elevator which can be heard clicking up. His stare is thoughtful, but lowered idly at the ground by his feet and the bag of their jackets.
Ray's camera sits on top of them, and he focuses on that when he notices. Gently, he sets the bag by his feet and pulls the camera out. He twists enough to look back where they came, and he raises the camera up to snap a photo of the two stores and the floor. Evidence maybe.
The film is plucked out of the front, but when he turns back, he lifts it again. He takes a photo of Taka and the jacket, plucking that one out of the front, too. Then he puts the camera back in the bag. He forgot about the other photo, so when he goes to put these developing ones in, he pulls the previous one out. It's there now, a picture of two emo boys with no smiles.
He puts them all back in the pocket of the new jacket.]
[ he blinks in surprise, and even opens his mouth to comment, but then the elevator dings and the door slides open. there's a pause, before he shakes his head and steps into the elevator. ]
That's Ray's, right?
[ he finally decides to ask about it. he hadn't known that sasuke kept the camera. ]
[The only pictures of him and Senri aren't even of him and Senri. It's of Senri taking dumbass, embarrassing pictures of him being stupid shit.]
We have cameras in my world. They are similar to Ray's. We have technology--television, movies, radios. [But it's all basically from the 80s. He's quiet for a few floors.] Our teacher has one of us. Team 7. I don't know if he still has it.
Maybe... if I can get a copy, I'll show you. Later.
[ it's said softly. for the longest time, all takaomi really knew about sasuke was that he had a friend named naruto who reminded him of senri. he's curious to see him, and the rest of them. ]
[He glances at Taka out of the corner of his eye, face soft. And then he looks away again, almost like he's shy.
The doors to the floor with the restaurant open, and he steps out now that he's released, though he does wait on Taka rather than leave the other boy behind.]
[Actually... Sasuke can't ever remember having anything fancy. For him, fancy was... maybe the time Itachi cooked such a full course meal when their parents went out of town, back when they were young.
But being an orphan...
It's evident he's very out of his element when they step into the restaurant. It's Parisian. It's extra. There's an alcoholic bar and there's two bars of buffet, one with things for salad and one with Sasuke doesn't know what all else. There's more pomp and circumstance with all of the tables, the host, the menus, the atmosphere.
He feels... out of place, and he's deathly quiet following behind Taka and the host, except... On the far side, floor to ceiling windows line one edge of what must the hotel. He doesn't know the view, but they're higher than ground floor, and he can see... pieces of a city similar to Shibuya, something he hasn't ever really experienced aside from then. The architecture is so different than Konoha. His feet slow to a stop.
He stares out at it with an uncertain yet curious expression.]
Paris. Nice view, huh? It'll be better if we were higher up.
[ he glances towards the ceiling as he says that, and then he softly nudges at sasuke with his elbow. ]
We can find a table closer to that, if you want.
[ since it'll be the closest that they'll get to the actual city while here.
it's always a little funny, seeing people react to locations he's rather used to. takaomi has felt largely out of place here, since everyone else seemed more prepared for this type of setting; they've faced monsters and death and things that taka never experienced outside of a video game until he arrived.
so it makes him pause, seeing someone taken aback by things like anime or school or this: a nice restaurant with a nice view. ]
[The elbow gets him out of the reverie, though he looks a bit embarrassed at getting caught staring out of the windows.] Mm. Okay. [Here, Shibuya, the elite academy, the night-life city, the suburbs... just about every place has been an enigma to Sasuke. Even the more medieval ones.
The only places he can think which felt even remotely like home was Inaba and Cunning's camp, and both were still very different.
Taka has maybe seen Sasuke this way only once before (or a few here and there, depending): when they showed him the video games, when he spent the first half an hour in quiet wonder about advanced technology.]
Do you know how to read the menu to know what we're ordering? [A pause. What would they call it???] ...Paris...an...? [look
[When Taka starts walking, Sasuke follows after and sits at the table, maneuvering the bags around under the table to the side. The moment he looks over the menu, he realizes he won’t be able to read shit. Even if it’s in English. He doesn’t know shit. Sigh.
He glances up at Taka, brows furrowed.] What’s on it? [His eye drops to... ah yes. Forks and spoons. He makes a face.]
[Western food. Weird!!] I haven’t ever been to a place like this. Just... ramen shops or sushi shops. Mostly... I made my own. The food in Shibuya and Inaba were what I’m use to having. [Pls. He’s a peasant. He doesn’t know any fancy dishes.]
[He won’t complain. As long as it isn’t sweet. Oh yeah.] Is there anything... with tomatoes? [He’s peering at the menu, but it’s fancy without pictures. Just elegant font and descriptions.] I don’t want anything sweet.
And... rice, I guess. [A pause.] What are you getting?

unfortunately, taka is curious, so he heads to the back.
a moment later, taka is very suddenly at sasuke's side, his expression pinched and uncomfortable. he saw the bras. ]

Are you hungry?

We can go to the restaurant.

Let's go.

taka presses the button to summon it, and quietly waits for it to come up to them. ]

Yeah. It was in the parlor with his things.
[He hopes Ray doesn't mind them borrowing it for gay reasons, like trying to prove to Senri they actually went out together. Poor Ray...]
no subject
Have you used it before this?
[ he assumes with senri. ]

The selection here is probably really fancy.

The country is France, and the language is French.

We should be fine.
hits post by mistake smh

Salad is easy enough for tomatoes.

I’ll take one, too.
